Dan Reynolds akhirnya menerima pesan dari Volkman yang ‘mengubah hidupnya’, setelah sudah tak lagi berbicara selama tujuh bulan dalam proses perceraian mereka.
Dirinya mengungkapkan “I wrote ‘Follow You’ after we got back together. I wanted it to represent a love that is realistic. One where love isn’t perfect but it endures.”
Dan Reynolds menulis lagu ini setelah akhirnya mereka kembali bersama. ia ingin itu mewakili cinta yang realistis. Tentang cinta yang tak sempurna tetapi bertahan. Aduh jadi baper nih, gengs!
